Body Shaming: Why we are So FABULOUSLY Curved!

Hello Beautiful!

It’s a fact that everyone has something about themselves that they just don’t like or wish they could improve upon. This can range from their hair to the way their fingers are shaped. (Lol, Idk about that one, but you still get the point.) In recent years it has become an epidemic of massive proportion, that is: Body Shaming. When we were young, it could have simply been teasing our friends for being too short or too tall or even fat. None of these things are particularly nice, but as we grow up- we learn to keep our negative comments to ourselves... Or so we were supposed to learn that!!

This negativity is a reflection of our personal selves. Yes, how you view others is a REFLECTION OF YOURSELF! I am not exempt from this!

This brings me to why I started "So FABULOUSLY Curved." Self-Esteem-wise, I was struggling. For months I was crying because I felt like I looked fat. I was sad because shopping was a consistent failure. I was depressed because my work and studies were becoming increasingly difficult and I couldn’t deal. I would watch TV, flip through magazines, gawk at billboards of my favorite models and be absolutely livid. I was mad that they were beautiful, successful, and happy! While I was seemingly unproportioned with stretchmark’s and an insatiable hunger for unhealthy food! But let’s take a moment to be real here. How the heck am I supposed to know how they feel? Oh to dream about the flashing lights and glamour... Reality check: That’s not where I am in life so why should I worry about it?

My obsession with the exterior of others was driving me insane and increasing my anger and hatred on other people. I had the nerve to comment on larger people I saw eating fast food- thinking to myself that they of all people should not have been there. The fuck was I talking about. I didnt belong there either. I may not have been as big as they were but my BMI sure said so. I would give stink-faces to skinny bitches. Okay, they weren’t bitches but I was being such a hater. Who am I to be mean? If their litheness was natural or attained through different means- it was their business not mines. I was getting myself deeper and deeper into a dark place that had me drowning in my own salty tears.

Have you ever been so sad that your heart literally hurt? Have you ever felt so worthless that you walked with your head down? Have you ever been unable to even listen to the music that once moved you?.. That was how I felt!

Because I was judging myself irrationally, I was tearing at the very fiber of my being. Then I saw party pics of my best friend! She has this amazing red dress on with her fat ass booty on #Fleek She has been working on her fitness for some time and I never realized the results until I saw that picture. (You'll get to know how much I appreciate her) I was instantly motivated to get off my ass, change my perception, and get rid of all the mess. Food and otherwise!

The next day I woke up, looked at myself in the mirror and thought to myself, "OMGosh, My boobs are amazing. My boobies are so nice!" (Cue the "Oh my god, I love Chipotle meme off the web). For some reason, my boobs looked great, my ass was beginning to be proportioned with the rest of me, my belly wasn’t so floppy, and even my stretchmark’s were less visible. I felt amazing. I thought I looked beautiful. But most importantly: I felt HAPPIER than I had felt in such a long time. I was ready to take on the world again.

Yes, it is still a struggle here and there, but best believe I stare at myself whenever I walk past a reflective surface. Regardless of another person’s negative opinion of me or even a harsh opinion of myself- I am so FABULOUSLY Curved and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

We owe it to ourselves to believe that we are better than what we think is our least desirable feature. So Stay BEAUTIFUL inside, outside, sideways, and always!
