A Quarter of a Century

In less than twenty-five minutes, I’ll be turning 25 years old. The golden age of exploration. The pinnacle of youth. The “I-finally-have-my-life-together-or-so-I-think era. The year I’ve been waiting for- to go absolutely apes-shit in Sin City. Yet here I am, casually typing away in my room in my parents’ house, while trying to figure out how I want to spend my day.

There are so many things that I wanted to get done before I reached this age. I was supposed to have been graduated from college by now. I was supposed to have been living on my own. I was supposed to be engaged to the man I saw myself spending eternity with. I was also supposed to have my dream car.

What do I have? Too much time on my hands. Too much fat on my body. And too many bills.

Now, I could sit here and complain that this will probably be a sucky ass birthday, but I can also count my many blessings:

  • I’m alive, and in fact have reached 25 years of life despite what doctors may have told me since I was a child.

  • I passed the math class that I’ve been struggling through for years and now can be admitted into the education program at my school.

  • I have family and friends who love me.

  • I am happy to have my blog and share experiences with my readers.

  • I am travelling abroad for the second time, and I am very excited about it.

  • I finally am successful at creating a Smokey-eye with makeup.

I can go on and on, but for the sake of this post that I’d like to finish before midnight- I will conclude by saying that even if I am turning a quarter of century and am probably feeling like I’m having a pre-midlife crisis: I am blessed and highly favored by God and I know things will work out for me!

Happy Birthday to Me!
